Americas failed educational system

Postby Willis_Leon_Johnson » Tue May 08, 2012 1:17 pm

The failed educational system in America.

In the far off days of yore, the American communities each had their own little school houses where all the children in nearby areas gathered together to be lernt their ABC'c by the local, somewhat homely, or elderly widowed school marm.

Her assistants were mainly the older children who helped teach the younger children how to read, write, spelling, grammar, arithmetic, and penmanship.

The teacher taught the older children and helped with the younger kids as needed.

Corporal punishment was hers, and HERS ALONE! irritate the school marm, and both parent would exact their own punishment at home, and the Grand Parents would express their displeasure as well. In fact, the entire community knew by the time school was out for the day and even complete strangers would look you over questioningly.

Children LEARNED, not just the traditional skills such as reading, spelling, etc, but GOOD MANNERS and RESPECT for others.

The same schools can be created today in this world.

In the community I live in, a 1200 sqft home with two bathrooms would work. ONE teacher, well qualified, intelligent and well rounded in the basics. Preferably a close to the top of her/his highschool class.

The size could be limited to 20-40 children, depending on the neighborhood density.

Again, determined by community size, there would be a "highschool" atmosphere school comprised of the older children from the neighborhood schools within a 1 mile radius., then regional schools within a 5 mile radius.
The "highschools" would be part time for the students due to their duties teaching the younger children from their own neighborhood.

The concept of the older teaching the younger builds a tremendous cohesion between the age groups, and the later interactions in the "highschool" settings builds a cohesion between the neighboring areas of the attendees.

The parents have ONE teacher to hold accountable, as well as ONE teacher they can turn to, and help when needed.

The parents would have the power to tell the teacher, OUR kid, OUR moral and ethical values.

There would be no government ran school districts, and the Parents would have the final decisions over the qualifications and supervision of the teaching staff.

This plan would be less than a tenth of the cost of the current system with far greater results.

The system could be expanded to include "Higher education" with the best PARENT APPROVED professors in small 'colleges' each specializing in only a few courses.

It's past time to remove the corruption and government intervention into the moral and ethical values of OUR CHILDREN and the destruction of the Christian Faith at the hands of garbage teachers that barely met the minimum to graduate from highschool.

I'm tired of the bottom of the barrel teaching Americas children how to be as stupid as their teachers.

This is an idea whose time has certainly come and would be more than welcome to the individual. However, government would not see it that way as they would no longer collect the taxes and redistribute them the way they see fit after having taken a huge chunk of them to hire more government employees. (As well as all of it that just disappears, never to be accounted for). They would also lose the "carrot" they hold out to get the behavior and control they need to keep the power in their hands and not the hands of the people. You cannot brainwash a population unless you have the power to control them and the content of the books they teach from and they will not give that up easily.
